1959 BRISTOL LD6B 972EHW, LC8518

972EHW was part of a batch of buses delivered to the Bristol Joint Services fleet of Bristol Omnibus Company for use on Bristol City Services. She is a Bristol “Lodekka” type bus, with a Bristol 6-cylinder diesel engine driving through a five speed manual gearbox to a drop centre rear axle, enabling a low overall height whilst retaining central saloon gangways.

When she had finished her service in Bristol she was acquired to be used for the transport of fruit pickers and eventually acquired by preservationist Geoff Green, before being sold to Alan Peters and Mike Walker: Alan later gave up his share in the bus.

Restorations underway and almost finished, it is anticipated that she will return to the rally circuit during 2009/10.
